Restorative Services is a program of the Community Service Foundation and Buxmont Academy, in affiliation with the International Institute for Restorative Practices. CSF Buxmont pioneered restorative practices in their schools for delinquent and socially and emotionally disturbed students. The IIRP is a graduate school and leading provider of restorative practices training and consulting.

We will work with you to select appropriate processes, prepare participants and provide facilitation.

Restorative Services can help:

  • Resolve and prevent conflicts, crises and discipline problems
  • Assist challenging students and families with recurring problems
  • Improve communication among students, families and staff
  • Decrease days lost to suspension
  • Reduce out-of-school placements and increase inclusion

Approaches could include:

  • Reintegration counseling to help students returning from out-of-school placements achieve success
  • Restorative circles in classrooms to enhance relationships among students and staff and resolve problems
  • Individual and family counseling, including drug and alcohol counseling
  • Restorative conferences to involve those affected by serious incidents in repairing harm, restoring relationships and changing future behavior
  • Family group decision making (FGDM) conferences to engage students and families in developing plans to address recurring behavior and other problems

Develop your school’s in-house capacity in restorative practices through:

  • Implementation support and co-facilitation opportunities for staff to practice and refine their skills
  • Skills training offered through the IIRP’s SaferSanerSchools program
